LAHORE: For the first time in history, family courts of Punjab on Saturday opened their doors to the public in the evening.
The courts will work from 2 pm to 6 pm in winters while the timings will be 4 pm to 8 pm in summers, read a notification issued by the Lahore High Court (LHC) registrar.
Moreover, civil judges will hear the juvenile cases.
It is worth mentioning here that the decision was taken by LHC Chief Justice Anwarul Haq.
According to the LHC chief justice, the decision has been made to save children from any psychological problems and ill-effects of normal court environment.
In cases of separation, the meetings of children with their fathers or mothers would also be conducted in the evening. If the move proves to be a success, the court will also start hearing civil and criminal cases in the evening.
