Balochistan Assembly approves University of Gwadar bill

QUETTA: Lawmakers unanimously approved bills for University of Gwadar and Government Employees Benevolent Fund (GEBF) in Balochistan Assembly on Saturday.

The session of Balochistan Assembly was presided over by Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musa Khel.

The University of Gwadar bill was presented in the session. Provincial Minister for

Information Zahoor Buledi said that the federal government has already allocated Rs1 billion for the formation of a university in Gwadar. No delay should be made in establishing this university as Gwadar holds great importance in connection to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, he added.

Later, he presented the bill for GEBF. Both bills were approved but reservations were shown by the opposition regarding a bill presented for the appointment of special assistant to the chief minister.

The opposition members opined that the special assistance bill has mentioned the salary and privileges of the special assistants but their responsibilities have not been ascertained.

Later, on request of MPA Nawabzada Aslam Raisani, legislators offered fateha for Maulana Samiul Haq, who was assassinated on Friday at his residence in Rawalpindi.

Later the session was adjourned till November 5.
