Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited Zero’s trailer released after almost a year of constant teasing. The film which also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead is directed by Anand L Rai of Tanu Weds Manu fame.

SRK unveiled the trailer of the film in a grand event held on the occasion of his birthday.

The movie shows SRK essay the role of a vertically challenged man with quick retorts and big dreams, while Katrina Kaif plays a superstar battling alcoholism.

However, the interesting thing that caught our attention was Anushka’s character, which was tightly guarded up until the film’s poster was revealed a day prior to the trailer’s release. Anushka’s character of a woman with cerebral palsy, appears to be a sort of tribute to Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai and the great scientist Stephen Hawking. Her name in the film is Aafia Yusufzai Bhinder and she is a senior NASA scientist.

Meanwhile, her wheelchair is directly inspired by the one used by Stephen Hawking. Her speech and dialogue delivery also appear to be an imitation of Hawking.

The 3-minute trailer had a lot going on and we are unable to make out what the plot will be, as SRK is seen romancing both the women. However, the trailer promises glamour, emotion, romance and a lot of drama – all the ingredients of a quintessential SRK film.

The trailer ends with a trip to the moon, while we’ll have to take a trip to the cinema to find out what SRK has to offer in this movie. The film will also have several special appearances by different actors, including the late Sri Devi. Salman Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. Regardless, the film appears to be different than anything Khan has done before and this is all the more reason for us to watch it.

Zero hits the theatres on December 21, 2018.
