Abdullah Gul, the son of former spy chief Gen Hamid Gul, escaped an attempt on life at Islamabad’s Expressway, media reports said Friday night.
He remained unhurt in the assassination bid, they added.
Talking to a local news channel, the ex-ISI DG’s son confirmed, “I was attacked near the old Islamabad airport.”
“I was driving my jeep when two cars intercepted me, and seven to eight bullets were fired at my vehicle,” he stated, adding that he was earlier informed by the law enforcement agencies that his name was on the threat list.
Abdullah said two cars tried to attack him on the Expressway but he escaped the scene.

Abdullah Gul, a defence analyst, is one of the leaders of Milli Yakjehti and Difa-e-Pakistan councils. He is the chairman of Tehrik Jawanan Pakistan and director general of MEASAC Research Center.
Earlier on Friday, former senator and JUI-S leader Maulana Samiul Haq was stabbed to death at his residence in Rawalpindi.
