Armeena Khan visits Jordan with aid for Syrian refugees

British-Pakistani actor and humanitarian Armeena Khan, a vocal advocate for refugees, is currently in Jordan distributing food packs and helping war torn individuals.

The actor, who joined hands with Human Relief Foundation to collect donations for the Syrian refugees, is currently documenting her trip on social media so that those who have donated can get a clear idea of where their money is going.

“Want to see your donations at work? Have a look! You made this possible, this is all because of your generosity my lovely followers. Thank you so much to @shareennawaz @sairahzafar @hrfnorthwest will see you soon girls inshAllah,” wrote in her first post which also had a video of the girls making supply boxes.

Her next post, which had a video of the actor along with other volunteers carrying the supply bags read, “So I’m finally here and distributing food packs to the neediest with the lovely ladies at Human Relief Foundation. It’s such an amazing feeling and I feel so happy! Thanks to you, I was able to do this. This is all because of your generous donations. Please keep donating so we can do more.”

Armeena further shared that she also conducted house visits to improve her understanding of the conflict and listened to real life accounts from the refugees.

The actor went onto reveal that her inspiration for this cause and philanthropy came from her mother who always encouraged her to help others.

“I wanted to share something with you guys. My mother told me a long time ago that whatever you do in life, always maintain your humanity and don’t forget that God does not like arrogance, such were the lessons taught to me when I was little,” Armeena shared.

“I started this Syrian journey with my mom’s prayers. It is her dream that I am living right now and her wish that I am fulfilling. It is such a sweet thing and I wanted to share her messages. My heart swells when I read these,” she wrote. “This is why I think mothers are so sacred and a lot of these Syrian kids have lost theirs. This is where you come in, you guys are amazing human beings, you’ve helped me put a smile on these children’s faces even if it is for a bit.”

Armeena remarked that she is overwhelmed by the amount of support she has received.

“I am amazed at the love, support and the donations pouring in, I am grateful from the heart. Thank you so much. I begin day two with my mother in my thoughts.”

Signing off for the night, she requested people to continue with their donations and shared her plans for the next day.

Armeena had previously announced that she will be joining hands with the Human Relief Foundation to collect donations for Syrian refugees and will personally hand deliver the zakaat and donations to the refugees in Jordan.
