ISLAMABAD: A teenage boy was martyred in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Leepa Valley after Indian troops resorted to heavy cross-border shelling.

According to reports, the deceased, eighteen-year-old Haroon, fell victim to the Indian shelling in Bijildhar village of Leepa Valley, located nearly 100 kilometres southeast of Muzaffarabad on Wednesday night.

In this regard, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Director General Dr Mohammad Faisal summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC).

He urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement, investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB).

Dr Faisal also said that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
