LAHORE: Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari on Wednesday said that a biometric verification system would benefit those who travel abroad for work.

He said this after inaugurating the biometric verification system at the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) Protector’s Office.

“The system is all about transparency,” he said while adding that those who went abroad and sent remittances would be able to ensure transparency, besides eliminating all problems that a worker used to face before going abroad.

He thanked PM Imran Khan and said that his directives in this regard were of high importance.

“For the first time, we are taking complete ownership of all those going abroad for earning a livelihood. Those who go abroad are our asset,”

He further said that almost 20 per cent people who went abroad did so illegally and the biometric system would help in overcoming this issue as well.

“Efforts are being made to eliminate the ‘Hundi’ system. In one year, we want to introduce corporate culture because the better trained our labourers would work more efficiently while staying abroad,” the special assistant informed.

Bukhari concluded by saying that all goals related to working overseas were possible to achieve if the do’s and don’ts are taught to the workers beforehand. Later, the special assistant was also given a souvenir.
