SHC seeks progress report in recovery of missing persons

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday sought a progress report within a month from Sindh police and law enforcement agencies pertaining to recovery of more than 70 missing persons.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Naimtullah Phulputo heard the case and expressed annoyance on lack in the progress in police reports.

The bench ordered the Sindh inspector general of police (IGP) and Karachi additional inspector general (AIG) to pay special attention toward the recovery of missing persons.

The bench asked the IGP that he himself guide the court on the case. The bench directed the police to apply modern devices for recovery of missing persons.

The families of missing persons told the court that despite the court orders police were not cooperating with them. Investigation officer told the court that one missing person, Zaman, disappeared after he was released from the jail.

Police reports said that disappeared men including Aqib, Syed Shah and Shahid Khan have already reached safely their homes.

The court sought progress within a month and adjourned the hearing until then.
