Pakistan is proud of its unique friendship with China: NA speaker

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing called on National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser at Parliament House on Wednesday.

Federal secretary planning, secretary P&D along other high ups of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government and Economic Zone Management Committee chairman were present in the meeting. The matters pertaining to bilateral relations, important regional and global issues, Rashakai Economic Zone, and other ongoing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were discussed in the meeting.

While talking to the ambassador, the speaker said that Pakistan was proud of its unique friendship with China. He said that Pakistan and China have cherished vibrant friendly relations. He also said that the present government was committed to taking relations between two countries to new heights. The speaker said that exemplary relations between Pakistan and China were based on regional development, mutual trust and trade and economic cooperation. He further said that cooperation between the two countries was rapidly expanding.

While talking about the CPEC, the speaker said that the CPEC is a consequence of an all-weather friendship between two countries. He said that CPEC will not only beneficial for Pakistan and China but the whole region. He stressed the need for early completion of CPEC projects. He said that the completion of the Rashakai Economic Zone will prove to be a milestone in the development of the area. He also said that with the completion of this project, the standard of the lives of the area will be improved. He said that equal opportunity will be provided to all provinces in CPEC projects. He further said that Pakistan’s economy was linked with CPEC and all possible measures would be taken for its early completion. The speaker also stressed the need for improvement in Peshawar Circular Railways System. He assured all out cooperation of federal and provincial governments for the completion of CPEC projects. He expressed the hope that with visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan the relations will enter in new era of cooperation and friendship.

Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing said that CPEC will open new avenues of development for the people of the region. He said that the relations between the two countries were improving with the passage of time. He said that the agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU) of mutual cooperation will be signed during the visit of PM Khan which will bring the two countries more closer. He expressed the hope that visit of PM Khan will prove to be a milestone in bringing the relations between two countries new heights. He said that the people and government of China also value highly the exemplary friendship with Pakistan and wanted to see a strong , stable and prosperous Pakistan.
