KDA given one week to rehabilitate SBB park, says Murtaza Wahab

KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minister for Information, Law and Anti-Corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday said that Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has been given one week time to complete cleaning and rehabilitation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto (SBB) Park, adding that in case of failure, a strict action would be taken against the culprits.

This he stated while talking to media persons at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park Clifton. He said that the Sindh government and Anti-Corruption Department had received scores of complaints regarding the deterioating condition of the park.

He said, “Though I have witnessed some improvements, they are yet not enough .”

Barrister Murtaza Wahab remarked that KDA failed to maintain this important public park of the City and added that KDA was only interested in renting out the park for organising illegal fairs.

Expressing his disappointment, he warned, “We need result oriented compliance of provincial government directives and no excuses would be acceptable in this regard,”

The advisor said that government has started action against those who are responsible for the destruction of the park.

Earlier Provincial Advisor inspected the cleaning drive of the park and thoroughly visited various corners of the park. Executive Engineer KDA Ali Imran Abro briefed the provincial advisor about the measures for rehabilitation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park. Director Press Information Zeenat Jehan also present on the occasion.

He advised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to take decisions as per rules and regulations, and protect the autonomy of the provinces under given under the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
