IIUI’S ranking among top 500 Asian universities is matter of pride: IIUI Rector

ISLAMABAD: International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai on Wednesday said that the university’s position among 500 higher educational institutions of Asia in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking is a matter of pride.

Addressing a ceremony held to celebrate IIUI’s position among the top universities in all of Asia, he emphasised on educational institutions to work for maintaining balance in teaching and research.

The IIUI rector said that the recognition of Pakistani educational institutions in world ranking systems was a good omen.

He urged universities to come forward to serve society and furthered that IIUI, in terms of serving society, has formed the Paigham-e-Pakistan narrative which has been recognised by all nations and even the United Nations (UN).

“We will not disappoint the nation, we will come up with more positive developments in the fields of academic excellence and quality higher education,” said Dr Yasinzai.

He said that the acceptance of graduates in the market must be a top priority of all educational institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Director Dr saeed ul Hassan Chishti said that IIUI applied for the QS Asia University Rankings 2019 for the first time through its quality cell. The application process involved data collection from various departments of the university, data submission and follow up thereof.

He said that IIUI has secured a position among universities ranked between 351 to 400 by acquiring a score as per the QS-AUR-Methodology in which it scored 13.7 on academic reputation; 21.2 on employer reputation; 40.3 on international students and 44.1 on citations per paper.

Furthermore, a presentation on the process of international ranking, points of scoring and key factors to be discussed in this regard was also given by QEC officials.

The ceremony was also attended by IIUI Vice Presidents Dr Aqdas Naveed Malik, Dr Muhammad Munir, Dr Muhammad Tahir Khalily, directors general, deans, head of the departments and other relevant officials.
