Pakistan woman cricketer and former national team captain Sana Mir clarified the recent ‘male presence ban’ in girls sports events by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government after talking with the provincial minister.

The cricketer wrote on her Twitter account: “Just spoken to the sports minister KP. He said categorically that concerned male officials coaches, trainers & families are allowed but unconcerned men not allowed. Regarding media, they are working on a policy to take parents & players in confidence before using pictures publicly.”

On Sunday, KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan directed a complete ban on the male entry in all-girls schools across the province, adding that there will neither be male chief guests nor media coverage at all the events participated by girls.

“There should be a complete ban on the male entry in the girls’ schools and the schools should invite female members of the assembly as well as role models as chief guests to sports, annual and other different functions to the schools throughout the province,” he told KP Education Minister Ziaullah Bangash on Sunday.

He has also directed his advisor on education to ensure an exemplary educational environment in the girls’ schools throughout the province.
