Press club secy among four gunned down in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: At least four people, including Charsadda Press Club Secretary Ahsan Sherpao, were killed in firing during a jirga meeting on Tuesday.

Police said that jirga was held in Charsadda to settle an old family dispute.

An exchange of hot words took place among the attendees after which an accused opened fire killing four people, including Ahsan Sherpao.

The accused fled the scene after the incident while bodies were shifted to the hospital for post-mortem. Earlier, the killer had also opened fire at his wife injuring her critically.

After registering the case against the murderer, police started to conduct raids for his arrest.

BILWAL CONDEMNS:

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the shocking killing of journalist Ehsanullah Sherpao and three others in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Charsadda district.

In a statement issued today, the PPP chairman said that sense of insecurity among journalists community was on the rise in the country and the fraternity was already on the streets against intimidation, censorship and unpaid hard-work.

Bilawal stressed that killing of Ehsanullah and others should be taken up seriously by the provincial government and there must be no delay in the arrests of the culprits.

He also demanded adequate compensation to the victim families and security.
