Iqbal says PTI’s 100 days have become 100 lashes
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government over the transfer of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jan Muhammad allegedly on the grounds that the IGP did not answer Federal Minister Azam Swati’s calls over an incident at his farmhouse.
Speaking to the media outside the National Assembly (NA), he said: “The transfer of the IGP over a cow is a joke.”
“The government has taken to transferring district police officers (DPOs) to IGPs to fulfil its political agendas,” he added.
The PML-N leader further mocked the government by arguing that the country is running on nepotism as the “Friends of Imran Khan club” is ruling the country
The former interior minister also lashed out at Finance Minister Asad Umar, who had referred to Iqbal in his speech and left the Parliament before the PML-N leader could issue a rebuttal: “First the quorum was not complete and when we called in opposition members to fill the House, the finance minister was found to be absent.”
“When the finance minister finally came, he delivered his speech and left soon after,” he said.
Iqbal also criticised the “non-serious” attitude of PTI lawmakers, alleging that “they were each given Rs100 million” as a bribe but still couldn’t be present in the session on Tuesday.
He mocked PTI members for their inefficacy, claiming that they cannot understand the economic troubles of the country.
Arguing that the government’s policies have failed to relieve the masses, he added: “The PTI’s 100 days have become 100 lashes.”
