18th amendment was not passed to facilitate corruption mafia: Haleem Adil

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Sindh General Secretary and Parliamentary Leader in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh on Sunday said that the 18th amendment was passed to strengthen the provinces and not to strengthen the corruption mafia and hide their crimes.

Addressing a press conference at the residence of PTI leader Inayat Rind, he said no one would be allowed to loot and plunder the resources of nation and country. He said that billions of rupees in Sindh have been taken away by the corruption mafia.

He alleged that the entities like Omni Group benefited at the cost of education and the health care in the province, adding that the rulers made huge money through corruption in funds of education, healthcare and communication.

He said as many as 562 corrupt officers of Sindh have already struck plea bargain deals with the NAB and rejoined their posts. He said the corrupt ministers of Sindh government are busy in getting protective bails to save them from being arrested by the NAB.

He said whenever the noose is tightened around Anwar Majeed, a certain politician holds press conferences. He charged Anwar Majeed was made virtually the viceroy of Sindh, adding the ‘aunty-corruption’ had handed over whole Sindh to him as a fiefdom.

He maintained that he is not afraid of lodging of fake cases against him, but he would welcome the probe of anti-corruption in these cases. He said the puppet rulers should forget that they would silence him with the fake cases. He said if injustice is meted out anywhere in Sindh, Haleem Adil would reach there.

Separately, Haleem Adil Sheikh offered condolence in Nawabshah to PTI leader Ayub Shar on the demise of his son. He also offered condolences in Village Khuda Bux Shar.

PTI leaders including Dr Masroor Siyal, Imam Din Kerio, Ali Hingoro, Agha Zulfiqar, Razaq Bajiwa, Ali Mirjat, Rehan Soomro and others were also present.
