Despite all stakeholders asserting that an NRO is neither demanded nor is anyone willing to give one, rumours of another possible NRO continue to circulate in the power corridors of Islamabad.

According to a report in the local media, a close aide to the prime minister revealed that some “understanding has taken place,” with PTI reportedly on board.

The close aide, anonymously shared that though Nawaz Sharif’s exit from jail is a result of High Court’s order, “Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s silence speaks volumes that there is something fishy.”

In a recent meeting of prime minister with journalists, on the question of a possible NRO to Nawaz Sharif, PM Khan lamented the problems caused by the weak prosecution in NAB cases, particularly pertaining to white-collar crimes.

In his address to the nation on October 24, PM Khan announced loud and clear that no one will be getting an NRO.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, also vehemently denied the possibility of an NRO.

However, Shehbaz Sharif’s close aide Rana Mashhood a few days ago claimed that things have been settled between the establishment and Nawaz Sharif. PML-N and ISPR both denounced his statement.

Another PML-N leader shared that most members of the party are laying low as they do not want to attract the attention of the NAB firstly and because if Nawaz Sharif cuts a deal, their future will end up being uncertain.

It’s not the first time that the Sharif family is being suspected of cutting a deal by their close friends and members. On December 10, 2000, the then Chief Executive of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf issued a pardon for Nawaz Sharif and allowed the immediate members of the deposed first family to travel to Saudi Arabia on a Saudi royal jet.

As of latest, both Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif are laying low and not making comments or speaking to the media, raising speculations.
