KASHMIR: President Arif Alvi issued a message on the occasion of Black Day, a day observed to mark the Indian occupation of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) by Indian forces on October 27th, 1947, in which he said that Pakistan pays homage to the “sacrifices of our brethren in Indian occupied Kashmir” and reiterated its “unflinching and steadfast moral, diplomatic and political support”.

“This support will continue till the realisation of their [Kashmiris] lawful right to self-determination,” he added.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also issued a formal message, saying that the people of Pakistan express full solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren who have rendered unmatched sacrifices in their struggle for self-determination.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry also added that Pakistan supports the people of Kashmir who have lent their voices for freedom and resisted persecution from Indian forces.

“This black day that we are observing, god willing we shall not observe it again. We shall celebrate the freedom of Kashmiris very soon.”

Earlier on Friday night, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan would not relent in its moral, political and diplomatic support until the Kashmiris realise their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

“This is the day India sent in its armed forces to occupy Jammu & Kashmir against the aspirations and fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people as well as against all principles of International Law,” he said.

“Pakistan will not relent in its moral, political and diplomatic support until the Kashmiris realise their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.”
