Serena Adventure Hike draws dozens in federal capital

ISLAMABAD: Serena Hotels on Friday organised a morning trek under it’s Adventure Diplomacy Initiative. Beginning at Trail 6 the trek ended with a sumptuous breakfast overlooking the Talhar Valley.

Numerous members of the diplomatic community, government, armed forces, corporate sector and friends of Serena participated in the hike on Margalla Trail 6 which combines a gentle picturesque amble for the first 1.5 kilometer with a more challenging incline towards the end. The embassies and missions of Sweden, Switzerland, Argentina, Belgium, Romania, Hungary, the European Union (EU), Egypt, Peru, Canada, Vietnam, Australia, United Kingdom (UK), Austria, Czech Republic, France, Syria, Spain, Netherlands, Uganda, Kuwait and USA were all represented.

The chief guest was colonel (r) Mohammad Sher Khan who is a renowned mountaineer and famous for being the first Pakistani to climb the daunting Rakaposhi (7,788 metres) and Nanga Parbat (8,126 metres) amongst many other illustrious climbs.

The beautiful scenic vistas and flora provided amateur photographers with ample opportunities to test their skills. The hikers took a short break halfway up the trail to rest and enjoy the views. The trek ended on the plateau overlooking Talhar Village that is considered one of the most beautiful and eye catching locations in the Margallas.

Adventure Diplomacy encourages human engagement with nature while testing physical prowess and is part of Serena Hotels’ initiatives to expand and enhance how people come together to share experiences.
