KARACHI: On the arrival of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar at Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SC) Karachi registry, a large number of people including families of missing persons, university students, civil society members and dismissed policemen reached outside the court and demanded justice.
CJP Mian Saqib Nisar reached the court amid tight security and started proceedings of cases.
People came from different areas of the province, carrying placards, banners and shouted slogans in the favour of the CJP.
The family of a man identified as Dr Deepak Raj, who was injured in an alleged fake encounter in Hyderabad, was there. Another group demanded justice for the minor girl, Amal Umer, who was shot in her head in an exchange of fire between cops and robbers last month in Karachi.
Some residents of Mehran Town also came there and demanded that anti-encroachment authorities should not raze their houses.
In addition, a group of teachers from District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Korangi appealed increase their salaries.
A group of dismissed policemen of Sindh Reserve Police (SRP) appealed to the CJP to order their restoration as well.
Families of alleged missing persons including Syed Mujahid Ali, Syed Nouman Ali, Syed Muhammad Umar, Muhammad Raess, Muhammad Idrees, Adil Mushtaq, Mueezuddin, Rizwan Ali, Khadim Hussain Areejo, Hidayat Lohar, Aqib Ali Chandio, Aftab Chandio and others were also present.
