Mighty Pakistan clinch T20I series against Australia

DUBAI: Pakistan on Friday clinched the T20 International series against Australia 2-0 after their win in the second match by 11 runs.

Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up two wickets each. Imad Wasim opened the bowling and got the wicket of Chris Lynn. Despite being dropped twice, Glenn Maxwell scored a half-century but got out during the very last over. Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile also made useful contributions for their team.

The green shirts scored 147 in the first innings with Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez doing most of the work. Azam scored 45 while Hafeez lost his wicket at 40. Faheem Ashraf’s last-minute boundaries allowed Pakistan to reach the mark.

Shoaib Malik was included in place of Hussain Talat in Pakistan’s lineup while Australia selected allrounder Marsh. Pakistani captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pakistan have 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Australia. The first match was won comfortably by the green shirts by a 66-run margin after setting the visitors 156 in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Australia were dismal as they slipped to their third lowest total – managing just 89 all out in 16.5 overs.

Pakistan have retained their top slot in ICC T20I rankings. Australia missed the chance of improving their rank.
