ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought reply from Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and National Testing Service (NTS) in a case challenging the appointment of a Law Officer in the company. Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani of IHC conducted hearing on a petition filed by a woman Quresh Bibi against the above appointment.
During the proceeding, the petitioner’s counsel Yasir Chaudhry Advocate contended before the bench that the women quota had been ignored in appointment in SNGPL that was violation of Article 34 of Constitution. He stated that NTS was a profitable private institution which had not legal status in the country. A judgment of Lahore High Court had declared the NTS as unlawful, he further argued.
The bench remarked that the superimacy of law essential to ensure transparency into the institutions. After hearing the arguments, the court subsequently served notices to SNGPL, NTS and Establishment Division to sought reply within two weeks.
