Anti-encroachment drive: AC suspended for ravaging houses of low-income individuals

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday issued orders to immediately suspend Sohawa Assistant Commissioner Tariq Basra for violating governmental policy with regard to eradication of encroachments.

According to a statement issued here, the said officer got the houses of the poor demolished in violation of the Punjab government’s policy, which suggests “not bothering low-income individuals”.

“Campaign against encroachments has been started against powerful land grabbers and poor should not be victimised during this campaign,” the chief minister has said.

CM Buzdar has also once again directed the commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and others to not initiate an action against houses or businesses of the poor amid the massive anti-encroachment operation that continues across the province in full swing.
