Two out of 18 cars sold during PM House auction

ISLAMABAD: Only two out of 18 cars belonging to the Prime Minister’s House could be sold during Thursday’s auction.

The two vehicles auctioned included a 1986 model car which was sold for Rs 175,000 and a 2016 model 4×4 which gathered Rs 1,810,000.

However, not a single bulletproof car was sold during the auction which was held as part of the PM’s austerity drive.

According to reports, the bulletproof vehicles are expected to be put up for auction again on November 6, however, the date has not yet been finalised.

In the first phase, the government had sold as many as 62 vehicles for Rs 200 million. Seven luxury bulletproof cars were among the cars sold in the auction, while two bomb proof cars did not find buyers.

Four models of Mercedes, eight bulletproof BMWs, three 5,000CC SUVs and two 3,000cc SUVs of 2016 model were among the vehicles up for sale.

Moreover, 24 Mercedes Benz of 2016 model were also part of the auction. Two of the cars were 4,000cc bullet-proof vehicles.

In his inaugural speech, PM Imran Khan had stressed austerity measures. The premier stated that he would only keep with himself two employees out of 524 serving at the PM House. He also stated he would only use two cars.
