Haripur police announced that it arrested one of the two suspected killers of a journalist, a local media house reported.
It was reported that Sohail Khan a 28-year-old correspondent of a local daily, was gunned down on October 16 and as per the murder FIR, Ali Sher and Hamayun Mussarat, sons of Mussarat Iqbal of Hattar village were named as suspects.
DPO Mansoor Amman told a news conference that the investigators tracked down the location of the suspects’ with the help of intelligence agencies.
The location was in the Chaman area of Balochistan, following which a police team arrested Hamayun as he was trying to cross into Afghanistan. Ali Sher, however, is still out there and will be held very soon.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists president Afzal Butt warned that the journalists would launch a series of protests across the country before staging a sit-in outside parliament house if the killers of Haripur-based two journalists were not arrested without delay.
