NANKANA SHAHIB: Police on Thursday busted an eight-member gang involved in dozens of kidnappings in the city and also recovered a child from their possession.
Six-year-old Sheraz, while playing on the street, had been abducted from Sangla Hill area of the district by the gang.
One of the kidnappers returned to the area with an aim to abduct more children, however, was held over suspicion and handed over to police by the residents.
During interrogation, the kidnapper revealed that Sheraz was kidnapped by his gang. The police carried out a raid over information provided by the arrestee, following which the child was rescued and seven gang members were arrested.
The detainees, in the preliminary investigation, revealed that their gang kidnapped children, either sold them to other gangs or forced them to beg in different cities.
A case has been registered against the held kidnappers.
