KARACHI: The staff of Sindh Government Children Hospital (SGCH) North Karachi closed downed medical services including emergency, OPDs, diagnostic centre and others departments and protested outside Karachi Press Club against the delay in the release of funds on account of their salaries.
The SGCH has been working under public-private partnership through a non-governmental organisation, Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI), for the last two years.
About 350 employees of including doctors, paramedical staff, nurses and other administrative officials working under PEI have been deprived of their salaries for three months.
The doctors, nurses and staff of hospital came to the
PEI (Operation) Director Brigadier (r) Rashid, while talking to the media, said the hospital administration has suspended medical services due to a shortage of funds.
He said the NGO is unable to provide medicines and surgical items to visiting and emergency patients in this circumstance.
PEI Chief Executive Officer at SGCH Dr Fatima said that the government funds for the hospital have not been released so far, therefore emergency, OPDs and others services are suspended. She hoped that the government funds for the NGO will be released soon.
