It has been an interesting week (and weekend) in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Apart from the Ko Ko Korina fiasco which had the whole country including the Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazaari engage in Twitter warfar, we also had actor Hira Mani tell the world that she cheated on her fiance to marry Salman Sheikh aka Mani.

Actor Mansha Pasha, best known for her role in Chalay Thay Saath and Zindagi Gulzar Hai actor, took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the matters.

“From stole my husband from my best friend and cheated on my fiancee, to Jab Me Too hota hai ussi waqt kiyon nahi boltein, to quotes from Uncle Ben and your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. The women of this industry need to step up and learn to speak better,” she wrote.

In her tweet, Pasha was referring to some of her colleagues from the industry.

The ‘stole my husband from my best friend’ part was in reference to Hira Mani’s recent appearance on Samina Peerzada’s talk show in which she shared that she met Mani when she was already engaged to someone else. She also said that she met him through a mutual friend who Mani was dating at that point. Hira added that she adored him ever since she saw him on TV, stole his number from her friend and started talking to him and eventually got married to him. The couple have two children now.

The “Me Too” part was a reference to model’s Sadaf Kanwal’s comments on the topic on HSY’s talk show.

“You know aap ke sath #MeToo jab ho, tab bol do. Baad mein aap ko yaad araha hai #MeToo, So I think jab ho bol do. (You know, when you have a #MeToo incident, say it then. Why are you remembering it later? I think when it happens you should say it.)” Sadaf have remarked, sparking outrage.

She further added, “Agar mere saath #MeToo kabhi hua tou mai bolungi na. Aur mai social media pe nahi bolungi mai aap sab ko bataungi (If I ever have a #MeToo incident, I would say it. And I won’t just say it on social media. I’d tell all of you.)”

In response to Pasha’s comments on the matter, Sadaf hit out at the actor saying, “Hum aapko kapre pehnana seekhate hain, aap humain bolna sikha do (You teach us how to talk and we’ll teach you how to wear clothes).”

Sadaf’s comments took a dig at Pasha’s dressing style.

And lastly, the “Uncle Ben” is with regards to the twitter debate between Momina Mustehsan and PTI MNA Shireen Mazari in which Momina decided to take a little help from “your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.”

“Uncle Ben from Spider-Man said ‘with great power comes great responsibility’. Don’t let us down,” Momina had said to Dr Mazaari while addressing the Coke Studio song controversy.

Time for everyone to take a chill pill and cool down now.
