ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to interior ministry over a plea seeking to exclude Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Zulfiqar Hussain Bukhari from the Exit Control List (ECL).

A two-member bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani conducted the hearing of the case. As the hearing started, Zulfi Bukhari’s lawyer said that the ban on his client is in violation of human rights. He also requested the court to declare the placement of names on ECL illegal.

After the hearing, the court directed that a notice be dispatched to the interior ministry and adjourned the hearing till indefinite time.

It is worth mentioning here that the interior ministry had placed Zulfi Bukhari’s name on ECL on the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Zulfi Bukhari’s lawyer also asked the court to direct that his client’s documents, including his passport, be returned to him.

Interior secretary, NAB chairman and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director have been made a party in the application.
