Renowned script writer says working with Urwa Hocane ‘life’s most dreadful experience’

Pakistani playwright, TV and film director Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar said that working with Urwa Hocane was his life’s “most dreadful experience.”

In a recent interview, Qamar spoke at length about his upcoming film Kaaf Kangana, starring Ayesha Omar, Sami Khan and first-time actor Eshal Fayyaz.

Speaking on why he changed the film’s cast and replaced Sohai Ali Abro and Urwa Hocane, Qamar said, “There is a lot I can put up with but I cannot tolerate dishonesty. I want to work with actors who are dedicated.”

He revealed that Urwa was not his first choice for the film but he decided to cast her because “she was absolutely begging for the film”, adding that Urwa’s husband, Farhan Saeed is a good friend of his and so he decided to cast Urwa on that basis.

Qamar also said that he considered Urwa to be a younger sister and his whole family was in support of casting her. He said that he hoped that Urwa would respect their relationship.

However, Qamar said, “Working with Urwa was the most dreadful experience of my life.”

Qamar further said that removing Urwa from Kaaf Kangana was a very difficult decision.

“I took sleeping pills as Farhan’s face kept appearing before me,” he said. “But there was no choice but to take this hard decision.”

Nonetheless, he added, “I wish her good luck. But I am so scared [of Urwa] that I will not be able to work with her again.”

Meanwhile, Qamar said that he wouldn’t like to talk much about Sohai Ali Abro.

Qamar has been behind several blockbusters including Punjab Nai Jaungi, Sadqay Tumhare and Pyaare Afzal.
