ISLAMABAD: Dr Shehla Shakeel Sethi, who was arrested by police for attempting to enter the diplomatic enclave without a vehicle number plate, was sent to jail on judicial remand by judicial magistrate on Sunday.

She was sent to jail for threating police personnel when they barred her entry into the diplomatic enclave.

A plea by her lawyer was rejected by the magistrate who sent her on a 14-day judicial remand.

“My client is a heart patient and under pressure, her mental health can be affected,” her lawyer said.

“Police officers instead of helping out, pressurised her,” he argued.

“If the medical test confirms your client is healthy she will be sent to jail,” the judge responded.

“If the doctor recommends otherwise after the medical test, then you can admit her into a hospital,” he elaborated.

According to reports, Dr Sethi is a doctor in the US who has recently returned to Pakistan.

On October 20, a case was filed against Dr Sethi who had abused and threatened law enforcement officials when they did not let her enter the high-security area because she was driving a plateless vehicle.

An FIR was registered on behalf of Assistant Sub-Inspector Police Tahir Farooq at the Secretariat Police Station, however, she could not be arrested at that time due to the absence of a female officer.
