With Saudi Arabia admitting that Jamal Khashoggi died in a “fist fight” at its Istanbul consulate, grieving fiancée of the slain journalist and author on Saturday tweeted a poignant video that showed Khashoggi laughing warmly as a cat interrupts the taping of an interview by leaping onto his lap.
“They took your bodily presence from my world,” Hatice Cengiz tweeted. “But your beautiful laugh will remain in my soul forever. My darling.”

In the video, Khashoggi speaks in Arabic during what looks like a formal interview taping. Then the cat leaps onto his lap, and he asks to keep it in the film, according to Twitterati.
Cengiz, who was waiting outside the consulate when Khashoggi entered the building, had not previously accepted that he had died. Khashoggi had gone to the consulate on October 2 to conduct paperwork that would allow for the two of them to be married.
Khashoggi’s last words to Cengiz before he disappeared were, “See you later, my darling.”
