Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani during a conversation with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday demanded that Pakistan assist Kabul in identifying perpetrators of attacks on Afghan security forces in Kandahar, a local media outlet reported on Friday.

An Afghan security guard opened fire at a meeting attended by top US commander General Austin Scott Miller, Afghan Police Chief Abdul Raziq and Intelligence Chief of Kandahar Momin Hussainkhel.

Raziq and  Hussainkhel were killed in the attack with the Taliban admitting responsibility for the attack.

The Foreign Office (FO), however, provided a different version on the telephonic conversation between Rabbani and Qureshi.

“Foreign Minister Qureshi called his Afghan counterpart to express condolences on the sad demise of senior Afghan leaders in a terrorist attack in Kandahar,” said the FO statement.
