Russia will deliver the first units of the S-400 air defence systems to India within two years, according to head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugaev, TASS news agency reported on Wednesday.
The S-400 Triumf, with a range of up to 400 km, is considered among the most sophisticated air-defence systems in the world and can target aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles.
“First deliveries are expected within two years,” Shugaev informed reporters.
The two countries signed the $5 billion contract earlier this month during Russian President Vladmir Putin’s visit to New Delhi.
