LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Thursday filed another reference against former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general Ahad Khan Cheema for possessing assets beyond known means of income.

According to NAB officials, Cheema possesses assets worth Rs600 million and has failed to satisfy the bureau regarding his sources of income.

The properties owned by the ex-LDA DG reportedly include multiple plots in different housing schemes in Lahore and Islamabad, agricultural lands, flats and houses.

A number of properties are registered in his mother, wife and other family members’ names as well.

Accountability Court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan will conduct proceedings of the reference on October 31.

NAB has already filed a reference against Cheema and five others over their alleged involvement in the Ashiana Housing Scheme scam.

He was arrested in February over charges of misusing his authority and, with criminal intent, processing and awarding Ashiana Housing contract worth Rs14 billion to Lahore Casa Developers, a joint venture firm that was ineligible for the same.
