ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday sought complete record pertaining to the torture of SSP (Operations) Asmatullah Junejo by protesters during the 2014 sit-in in a plea challenging the acquittal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan by the trial court.
A divisional bench, comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani of the IHC, resumed hearing over the federation’s appeal against the trial court’s orders.
The state counsel Sadaqat Abbasi contended before the bench that the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had acquitted Khan on May 4, in above case.
He prayed the court to turn down the decision and order the trial court to complete the trial.
The bench observed no one had given the statement against Khan among a total of 11 witnesses in this case before the ATC.
After hearing the arguments, the court subsequently sought the complete case record and adjourned the hearing for an indefinite time.
