Spending tax money on public welfare schemes is real democracy: minister

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Communications Murad Saeed has said that the money obtained from the auction of vehicles will be spent on public welfare schemes.

While talking to the media on the occasion of the auction of vehicles of National Highway Authority (NHA), he said, “In the first phase, 76 vehicles of NHA are put on auction. Prime Minister Imran Khan has fulfilled his commitment for termination of protocol culture.”

Murad said that pragmatic steps are underway to eliminate corruption in the country and corrupt practices will be uprooted in communications ministry and its attached department on every level. The individuals involved in money laundering will have to face accountability, he added.

He further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is drawing attention towards solving public issues and the plan for construction of five million homes is a step forward towards public welfare schemes. He hoped that duration of a hard time would soon come to an end. Spending of public money on the public is real democracy, he added.

NHA has also scheduled auctions of vehicles in its offices at Abbottabad, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Karachi, Quetta, and Gilgit. NHA vehicles at Peshawar will be auctioned on October 17, 2018 (Wednesday).
