KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed administrations of firms and entities to submit details of employees working for them along with their domiciles and also sought reports about oil and gas sectors in Badin and Kambar-Shahdadkot.

The SHC was hearing a petition of contempt of court filed by a citizen, Aftab Bajkani against oil and gas companies working in Sindh. The petitioner stated that these companies are not implementing the court orders.

The petitioner also said that these companies are not cooperating in the welfare and development of local areas.

The court also directed the oil and gas companies to submit the details along with domicile details of employees working with them.

A report pertaining to recruitment of locals in the gas field in Kambar-Shahdadkot was submitted before the court.

Kambar Shahdadkot Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javed Jagirani stated that only one out of six engineers is local while other five belonged to other areas. The court expressed displeasure over the report and summoned the chief secretary in the next hearing.

Ghotki former DC also submitted a report in the court and stated that Qadirpur gas field still has not allocated any fund for development work.

However, Qadirpur gas field representatives stated that the company had allocated fund for development.

The court directed the newly appointed Ghotki DC to submit his affidavit and directed him that it should be told in an affidavit that how much funds have been spent on the development of the area by gas companies since 2013.

Petitioner Aftab Bajkani stated that there are 90 officers in the PPL and of them, only three are local people.

The court, later, adjourned the hearing till October 30.
