MUZAFFARGARH: A woman contesting the by-elections for a seat in the provincial assembly defeated her own son in Muzaffargarh.
Contesting the by-elections from PP-272 Muzaffargarh-V on a Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket, Zehra Batool, defeated her son, Haroon Sultan Bukhari, who was contesting as an independent candidate.
Batool received 24,019 votes, while her son, Bukhari, received 17,072 in the PP-272 constituency, coming in second.
Sunday saw polling for by-elections in 35 constituencies. Results from 11 National Assembly (NA) constituencies saw Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and PTI win 4 seats respectively, while Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) retained two seats, while the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) won the NA-35 constituency in Bannu.
