Scottish father appeals to PM, CJ for justice in toddler son’s murder

A Pakistani-Scottish father has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to look into the murder case of his toddler son, local media reports have informed.

Iftikhar Ahmad’s three-year-old Shahryar Ahmad was abducted and killed by a gang in Faisalabad in August 2014 in an extortion bid. According to Ahmad, his son was kidnapped by Ashraf Bappi gang in “broad daylight” and was tortured before being strangled to death.

He added that he was getting dates in the sessions court but no justice yet. The matter has been delayed for four years now.

Ahmad said that a political figure of the area, who also hails from the UK, suggested him to bribe the police to get his work done. In his quest for justice, he also wrote to a minister, but in vain.

Ahmad alleged that leader of the Faisalabad gang admitted that he had kidnapped and killed Shahryar. He claimed that the local police is aware of the gang’s activities but take no action against them as the gangsters provide money to the police. He added that he has received death threats from the gang and has been told that he will attacked if he pursued the case.

Iftikhar is hopeful that PM Imran and CJP Nisar will look into the matter and give him and his family justice.

Iftikhar Ahmad’s local MP Stephen Kerr has also raised the issue of toddler’s death in Pakistan in Parliament and has written to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Pakistani High Commissioner in London.
