LAHORE: Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) on Monday served a fine of Rs150,000 to a private laboratory for handing out a fake blood test report and not getting registered with the commission.

As per the details, Muhammad Amjad had submitted a complaint with PHC, stating that he had got his blood tested from Pearl Laboratory in Burewala. “I was stated to be positive for Hepatitis C in the report; however, after further testing, I discovered that the report was issued without any proper tests and was fake,” Amjad had alleged.

An investigation team of PHC probed into the matter and discovered Amjad’s allegations to be true.

The commission imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on Pearl Laboratory for giving a fake report and not getting licensed with the PHC. A separate Rs50,000 fine was served to the laboratory’s main branch in Lahore for generating the fake report on its letterhead and not resourcing qualified staff.
