LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that women of rural areas of Pakistan are very hard-working and play a leading role in the development of the rural economy.

In his message here on Sunday on the International Day of the Protection of Rights of Rural Women, the chief minister said that women of rural areas work side by side with men in the agricultural economy.

The role of women in the sustainable development of the agricultural sector cannot be ignored, he said, adding that the government would take all measures to protect the rights of rural women.

The chief minister said that the ‘New Pakistan’ would provide due rights to rural women. Women living in villages were deprived of legal, economic and social facilities, he admitted.

He said that measures for improving the conditions of rural women were a responsibility of the government and the role of non-governmental organizations was also important for this purpose.

CM Buzdar said, “We have to reassure the commitment that effective measures would be taken to provide rural women with their due rights”.
