ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has condemned the allegations made against Interior State Minister Shehryar Afridi of using the government’s expenses to redecorate his new residence.
Chaudhry, in a statement issued Friday, said that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) will carry out an investigation into the matter, and find out the source behind these baseless allegations.
The info minister also denied reports claiming that PM Imran Khan was not satisfied with Finance Minister Asad Umar‘s performance.
Earlier, reports in the media stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken notice of the reports of the interior state minister Sheheryar Afridi renovating and redecorating his new residence on government expenses, and has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate the matter.
Sheheryar Afridi was allegedly accused of replacing floor tiles, curtains, furniture and carpets after he moved into a house in the ministers’ colony. He also purchased an LCD.
The purchases allegedly cost millions of rupees and were ordered to be paid by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad.
