An image making rounds on the social media shows Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and State Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul’s husband present at an official government meeting.
Gul was reportedly holding a meeting with a delegation of the United Nations.
“Under what authority was her husband present at the meeting?” asked the individual who had uploaded the image, further criticising her for involving family members in official government matters.
Responding to allegations of nepotism, Gul took to Twitter to speak out over the matter.
“Fuss is being created by some regarding a pic showing my husband Akhwand Humayun sitting with me during a discussion with UNICEF reps,” she said.
“Firstly, it was an off-chance unofficial meeting where the reps wanted to give some quick suggestions for the #CleanGreenPakistan campaign,” she added.

“And as Akhwand Humayun is President of Dera Ghazi Khan Municipal Corporation, so the #CleanGreenPakistan campaign is directly related to him for the area,” she elaborated.
“So, let’s not make a mountain out of a molehill,” the PTI leader said.

“There were no official meetings scheduled for the day as I had gone with my husband and child to look at the progress of the under-construction office. I reiterate the meeting with UNICEF was off-chance, on their insistence and for just a casual unofficial discussion one,” she elaborated further.
