Firebrand leader of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Khadim Rizvi has called for a strict accountability of all religious clerics in the country, demanding of the state authorities to form a joint investigation team (JIT) for the purpose.
While addressing his followers, Rizvi said, “Religious clerics have made a fortune by using the name of Islam.”
The cleric questioned how “molvis and pirs bought expensive cars while being laymen in the initial years of preaching.”
Rizvi maintained the clerics should be held accountable, adding that they should be asked what good they did in the name of Islam. “Pakistan would have proposed only if they paid zakat,” he said.
