  • Health officials say weather suitable for breeding of dengue larvae

RAWALPINDI: In an alarming development, the number of dengue patients has reached to 125 while the cantonment area has been affected the most, said Dr Zeeshan, a focal person for the District Health Authority.

In a statement, he said that as the present weather was suitable for breeding of dengue larvae, the number was continuously increasing while the district government and the health authority have made arrangements to control the situation.

He said that most cases were being reported from the cantonment areas as a number of cases have been reached to 45 while the departments have some hurdles to reach at sensitive places. He said that the deputy commissioner has directed the officials concerned to complete the updated report of the dengue surveillance and sent it to the Station Commander of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) for carrying out surveillance in prohibited areas.

Dr Zeeshan said that a full-scale fumigation drive was underway in different localities of the city especially where dengue larva has been found. He advised the residents to take precautionary measures and not panic as dengue fever was curable with timely and proper treatment. He said that threat of dengue fever spread would end soon as the weather conditions change.
