IIUI employees, students warned against posting defaming content on social media

ISLAMABAD: The administration of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has threatened the employees and students of the university that disciplinary action would be taken against those who are found to be involved in the initiation/promotion/sharing of activities deemed defaming to the university on social media.

Director HR Muhammad Adnan Khan issued the order with the approval of the university’s president. The order stated, “It has generally been observed by the IIUI authorities that the students and employees initiate, promote and share different nature of sensitive issues relevant to the university and its authorities on social media.”

The order further stated, “Such state of affairs portrays a bad image and is harmful for the reputation of the university, which is a prominent seat of learning in the entire Muslim world.”

The administration also directed the employees and students to refrain from participating in such activities and in case they face a genuine issue, they should approach the administration instead of taking to social media.

The administration also warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken under Pakistan’s cyberlaw, the rules governing the use of social media and the university’s own rules and regulations.

It is also worth mentioning here that in certain cases when the university’s employees try to approach the highest authorities to express their grievances, they are told that they must observe the office decorum and refrain from approaching the high-ups.
