CJP takes notice of encroachment on Kalash land

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday took notice of alleged illegal encroachment over the property belonging to Kalash Tribe.

The notice was taken on an application submitted by Kalash tribesmen in which they said that they are living in their area from medieval times with a population of about 300 and have some lands in their possession. The tribesmen said that a person named Maqsoodul Mulk wants to snatch their land from them. They contended that have already filed a petition before Peshawar High Court (PHC) in this regard but the threats still exists.

Taking notice of the issue, CJP Nisar fixed the matter in the court on October 17 with notice to Islamabad advocate general, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief secretary, KP inspector general of police (IGP) and Chitral deputy commissioner to appear before the court.
