RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Tuesday sealed 21 shops and two godowns as the owners despite notices did not remove these encroachments.

RCB spokesperson Qaiser Mehmood said that the shopkeepers were issued notices to remove the encroachments. The anti-encroachment teams conducted raids and sealed 10 shops in the People’s Colony area while 11 shops and two godowns were sealed in the Ahata Mittu Khan near Railway Road in Saddar area.

About 50 shopkeepers in different areas were also issued notices to remove the encroachments on their own; otherwise strict action in accordance with the law would be taken. The team has been directed to conduct operation on daily basis and no relaxation should be given to anyone.

The teams also confiscated seven truckload goods of encroachers from Masrial Road, Chungi No-22, Saddar, Bank Road, Peshawar Road, Lane-No 5, Pirwadhai Morr, Katcha Stop and other areas. Illegal banners and posters were also removed during the operation.

On the other hand, the RCB Food Branch team on the directive of RCB Chief Executive Officer Sibtain Raza checked 28 food points and issued 16 notices for poor cleanliness and unhygienic conditions. The team collected 10 food samples which have been sent to the lab for the quality test.
