Members of Lahore District Bar Association (LDBA) locked gates of sessions court for hours in order to protest a suo motu notice taken by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar of an incident where LDBA lawyers physically assaulted a police official.

The lawyers termed the notice “a disappointing step” by the CJP and announced that all CCTV cameras inside the court will be taken down for “victimization of lawyer community”.

They added that the assaulted policeman had been patronizing land grabbers and lodging false cases against lawyers.

“The protests will continue till cancellation of cases registered against the lawyers.”

The bar’s leaders announced that next general house meeting would be held in the Supreme Court on Oct 13.
