ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul on Monday said that pollution is one of the main issues that the federal government aims to tackle through initiatives like the Clean and Green Pakistan.
In a statement, she said that visionary leader like Prime Minister Imran Khan can plan projects like the Clean and Green Pakistan. During five-year project, she said that the ministry would initiate campaign across the country to create awareness among the people regarding importance of clean and neat environment.
She said that youth, celebrity and religious leaders would also involve in the campaign. She said that the government has launched the 10 Billion Trees Tsunami project on patron of the Billion Trees Project of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which would play crucial role in tackling climate change issues in the country.
Zartaj Gul said that millions of people do not have access to a toilet, forcing them to defecate in the open, which is a major contributor to stunting in the country. She said that open defecation can spread disease and lead to intestinal infections, which can contribute to stunting in young children. During five years campaign, she said the people would be involved to take part in this campaign with the aim to make Pakistan clean and green.
